Nina Josephson is a student studying history and studio art. She works in both two and three dimensions, aiming to create realms of existence that are both playful and macabre. Primarily using needle felted wool, paper mache, and mixed media drawing, Nina works with the dichotomy of the dark and the humorous in order to explore the human condition. Strange beasts highlight the absurdity of our existence. As we look at these alien beings, brightly colored and textured, expressing a deeply human emotion, we are reminded that we too are monsters of some kind. Nina’s work encourages others embrace their monsters and demons- to face the people we are when no one is looking. After all, humans are only beasts who have forgotten their nature somewhere along the way.
