My work often explores the convoluted web that is the human psyche. The left side and the right side of the brain are constantly at war with one another--the former is analytical; the latter, impulsive. As an artist, this inherent chaos had led me to produce a series of unconventional artwork, enhanced with muted color schemes, careful line work, and, most importantly, detail. Each piece combines these distinct elements with a long list of repressed emotions. The top two being pain and anger. The key to unlocking true potential, I believe, is a dark state of mind.
My work expresses a sense of control through deliberate mark-making techniques. Each piece is carefully arranged. The use of materials in my work changes from project to project. I never create the same work twice.
I have always been interested in the human face, and this has spurred me to create some unique portraiture. My style is unlike anyone else's. Why? Because I think outside the box. Having studied the evolution of popular American culture, my work resonates with contemporary society. The subject matter touches on relevant ideas such as self-identity, internal conflict, existentialism, and outward appearance. Challenging the viewer to see the world in a whole new light.
