In a post on his blog, designer and illustrator Olly Moss once said "I’ve always considered illustration and graphic design (along with photography, animation or any other creative discipline for that matter) as tools in a toolbox. The more tools you have, the more versatile you are and the more things you can build." This quote really hits home for me because I enjoy designing in a variety of mediums. Learning new software, technology, and design methods is as challenging as it is rewarding. I have a strong background in print, but I've recently been exploring web and I'm having a blast coding and designing in a digital space.
Drawing and sketching has always been my favorite hobby. As I evolved into a graphic designer in college, I found my work became much more illustrative. Having a lot of experience with drawing really helps out during my creative process because I'll usually do hours of sketching before I even touch the computer. I'm able to generate a bunch of different, crazy ideas before I finally decide on something that I really like.
In my spare time, I enjoy running, playing video games, guitar and banjo, and kayaking.
