Katherine Zeilman is a senior at the Columbus College of Art & Design (2012-2016) where she is studying to receive her BFA in Sculpture with a Concentration in Glassblowing. She has also studied twice on scholarship at the Pittsburgh Glass Center under Susan Taylor Glasgow and Kenny Pieper. Katherine works for her school as the Glassblowing Studio Technician, as well as a Sculpture Lab Monitor. She is the president of CCAD Glass, a student-run organization for those interested in the process and practice of glassblowing, and works as the Gaffer's Assistant at the Ohio State University.
Her process typically applies the techniques of Traditional Venetian glassblowing to contemporary vessel design for both functional and sculptural purposes. Her most recent body of work focuses on the theoretical and physical practices of alchemy, and how these processes are intrinsically linked to the act of making.
